Well-regarded chef Peng S. Looi, who does double duty at his other restaurant, Asiatique, has gloriously expanded the scope of Chinese cuisine at August Moon Chinese Bistro. The simply breathtaking digs feature both indoor and alfresco dining (in season) with a gorgeous view of the wooded area behind the restaurant. The four-star menu retains Looi's impeccable modern interpretations of classic dishes, as influenced by his native Malaysia and the Pacific Rim. Even when the name of a dish is familiar, there's nothing standard about it, from soups to appetizers (including the excellent goat cheese-crabmeat won tons) through salads, entrŽes and desserts. In addition to about 14 signature dishes – try the spicy calamari with Indonesian sambal sauce and julienne of snow pea or the spicy lamb with scallion, carrot and ginger-black bean sauce – there are seafood options as well as chicken, beef, pork and veggie entrŽes. Along with a fine wine list, there's also an impressive selection of hot teas. A separate brunch menu is offered from noon–4 pm Sundays. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily.
