Comme Ça has Parisian brasserie ambiance in abundance. Black and white booths and tables are scattered throughout the room, while chalkboards display daily specials, clever quips and literary quotations. A cheese bar graces the entrance. And there's even a small library behind the sleek bar, so you can brush up on your Rousseau, Voltaire or Descartes if you're having some sort of existential crisis that innovative cocktails won't fix. (I drink, therefore I am?) Though brasserie standards dominate the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, the singular departure, The Comme Ça Burger (served only at lunch), draws rave reviews. This patty of rare Angus beef topped with cheddar and served with fries is an homage to chef/owner David Myers' upbringing in Ohio. Dinner features moules frites and tarte flambé as starters, and classic entrées include coq au vin, duck confit with braised red cabbage and spatzle, and bouillabaisse. Reservations suggested. Full bar. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Late-night Fri–Sun. Sat–Sun brunch 9 am-5 pm.
Where the Locals Eat Rating
Best Brasserie
Top 100 Restaurant, Los Angeles
"New York's Balthazar can eat its bouillabaisse out: the destination brasserie has arrived in L.A. with David Myers' modern take on a Parisian way of life."
– Metromix L.A.
"Comme Ça is Myers' stylish new brasserie on the southern edge of West Hollywood, a sleek, theatrically lit restaurant that has the look of a dining room restored to use after 70 years of mothballing, although it was most recently a falafel joint: black and white, lined with mirrors, filled with actual French speakers and smartly dressed citizens of the local design community."
– Jonathan Gold, LA Weekly
"Open til midnight on the weekends, Comme Ca should go straight into your Blackberry or iPhone's address book. And maybe speed dial, because once word gets out that it's finally open, Comme Ca is going to be a tough reservation."
– S. Irene Virbila, Los Angeles Times
"Myers may have come up in the strictest kitchens [Boulud, Charlie Trotter's], blut Comme Ca captures the relaxed style and tumultuous atmosphere that may have fascinated him all along."
– Conde Nast Traveler
