Named a Regional Classic by the James Beard Foundation, Stroud's has been serving some of the best mashed potatoes and pan-fried chicken that Kansas City families have ever licked off their fingers, since 1933. You'll probably have to wait for a table at this converted 10-room farmhouse in the Northland, but strolling through the landscaped grounds or listening to the live, old-time piano music is part of the fun. The specialty fried chicken and other entrées, such as pork chops and chicken-fried steak, are accompanied by a salad or house-made chicken soup with wide egg noodles; baked, mashed or deep-fried potatoes; and cinnamon rolls. Full bar. Serving lunch Fri–Sun, dinner nightly.
