Built in 1888 and quickly acquired by railroad baron Henry Flagler, St. Augustine's historic Casa Monica Hotel looks like something from another time and place. Its Moorish, revival-style architecture and Victorian-era chandeliers and ornate furnishings belong to the Golden Age of indulgence and opulence. The hotel's revival in the late 1990s by hotel magnate Richard Kessler also begat the world-class restaurant, 95 Cordova. Its so-billed "New World Eclectic Cuisine" fuses American contemporary, Moroccan, Asian and Caribbean influences, just to name a few, with an emphasis on local seafood and produce. Breakfast options include raisin brioche French toast, a Spanish vegetable frittata and seafood omelets. Cuban sandwiches, sirloin burgers and crab cakes are among the lunch choices. And start with a bowl of spicy lobster and shrimp broth soup for dinner. Entrées can include Moroccan caramelized Long Island duckling with braised cabbage and egg fried rice; sea bass and cilantro truffle oil; or crab ravioli and vodka shrimp. Sunday brunch (10:30 am–2:30 pm) includes made-to-order omelets and waffles, carving stations, fresh seafood, entrées and desserts. DiRoNA award winner. Reservations suggested. Full bar. Serving breakfast and dinner daily, lunch Mon–Sat. Sun brunch.
