Facing the bustle of lower Westheimer, Hugo’s serves some of the very best Mexican food in Houston. The cuisine is regional Mexican, not Tex-Mex, so you’ll find no chips and salsa here. But you can feast on the likes of lamb roasted in banana leaves and every kind of taco from pork to lobster. The plating is artful, and there is a lengthy wine list in addition to a wide array of tequilas. Hugo’s also does Sunday brunch (11 am–3 pm) in fine fashion, with one of the best and more unique buffets, plus live music from the balcony above the dining room. Voted Best Brunch in 2007 Houston Press critics poll. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily.
