There’s not much to the Bellaire Broiler Burger, which seems right out of the 1950s (not a coincidence since it is from the 50’s). Sporting a fairly small dining room with well-worn furniture, the most notable aspect of the décor is the flames leaping high above the grills behind the counter. These exemplary grilled burgers are your basic all-American-style burgers: messy, thin, juicy and always very satisfying. The perfectly charred patties meld perfectly with the toasted buns, ripe tomato slices and crisp lettuce to become some of the top burgers in town. The basic burgers are available with just a handful of additions such as cheddar cheese, bacon, chili, mushrooms and barbecue sauce. Another treat from the limited menu — though certainly not for the cholesterol level — is the Combination Special. It consists of a charcoal broiled hamburger patty, two grilled hot dogs, chili, cheese and chopped onions piled on a bun. The result is a very savory — and usually very sloppy — sandwich. Beer available. Serving lunch and dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
