This most recent restaurant carrying the renowned Vallone sobriquet is a handsome, yet informal place for fine dining on Sugar Land's Town Square. Amici has drawn local and national notice by cooking expressive Neapolitan-inspired fare that is true to its roots while indulging in some modern Gulf Coast expectations for Italian-themed fare. There are numerous interesting appetizers, pizzas, pastas, and meat and seafood entrées on the lengthy menu, plus desserts, which are never an afterthought at a Vallone restaurant. Though the heartier dishes are worthy offerings, the kitchen seems to have a defter hand with the pastas. Some of the intriguing pasta dishes include Fedelini Sciue Sciue that features a quickly cooked sauce of cherry tomatoes and garlic served with basil and mozzarella di bufala; Pansoti, handmade pasta filled with butternut squash in a light sage sauce; and the Paccheri, large tubular pasta are filled with shrimp, spinach and Fontina cheese with a sauce of tomato, garlic and basil. One entrée that is definitely worth ordering is a long-time Vallone favorite, the de-boned pan-fried pork loin finished with roasted capers, olive oil and lemon. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily.
