Sindbads has come a long way since 1949, when the Blancke and VanHollebecke brothers-in-law bought the original tiny shack, now housing just the restaurant's bar. A prime location allows patrons to dine by land (in the polished, 430-seat dining room) or by sea, docking at tables over the scenic Detroit River. The unassuming atmosphere and laid-back presentation have stayed consistent through the more than 50 years of growth and remodeling. The restaurant serves quality meats and simple sides, with traditional dishes such as surf and turf, king crab legs, and perch from the Great Lakes. Live music during the summer. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Sun brunch 11:30 am–2:30 pm.
