Diners come from all over the Detroit area to enjoy authentic Indian food at Priya. The restaurant serves dishes from southern India in addition to serving the northern Indian dishes that are more familiar to Americans. Northern Indian favorites such as chicken tikka masala, vindaloo and curry dishes are available, and diners can sample a wide variety of northern and southern dishes during the lunch buffet any day of the week. Popular southern Indian staples include idlis (rice and lentil patties) and dosas (crêpe-like creations made with lentils and flour). House specialties include chicken saag, a marinated chicken breast sautéed with ginger, garlic and spinach, and upma, similar to cream of wheat and flavored with peanuts, cashews and curry. For dinner, the thali, or full dinner, is recommended and consists of several small dishes including an entrée, soup, bread, condiments and dessert, creating a variety of tastes that adventurous eaters will enjoy. Vegetarians as well as omnivores will feel at home at Priya. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Voted Best Indian Restaurant in the 2008 Metro Times and Hour Detroit readers polls.
