Chefs/owners and former Southerners Tom Unterwagner and Steve Jankousky make some of the best lunchtime comfort food imaginable: thick-cut, gravy-covered meat loaf, crispy fried chicken, rich macaroni and cheese, and fluffy mashed potatoes, to name a few. The best way to sample it all is to order one of the daily meat-and-two options at their little diner-style joint in Five Points. Whatever you decide, you also get a large piece of jalapeño cornbread, a biscuit or dinner roll depending on what they baked that day. And if you throw in another buck or two, the moist Coca Cola chocolate cake can be yours, too. Call in the morning to hear the menu for that day, and get there early because when they run out, they run out. The line starts forming at 10:30 for the 11 am opening. Reservations not accepted. No alcohol available. Cash only. Serving lunch Mon–Fri. Closed Sat–Sun. Voted Best Fried Chicken in the 2008 Westword readers poll.
