Since 1984, Katzinger’s Delicatessen has been better educating customers raised on generic brands of olive oil, Bunny Bread and Kraft Singles. From the edge of German Village, Diane Warren imparts a passion for gourmet goods at her New York-style deli and specialty foods store. A range of soups and salads, traditional Jewish specialties and breakfast items (served all day!) are available. But locals know Katzinger’s best for its cleverly named, overstuffed sandwiches. With more than 70 varieties from which to choose, quarter- or half-pound sandwiches are composed of house-baked breads, imported aged cheeses, quality meats, and house-made spreads and chutneys. Don’t forget to dip into the serve-yourself pickle barrel. Beer available. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Voted Best Sandwiches in Alive's 2008 readers poll.
