One of Charlotte's first Thai restaurants, Thai Taste brings the unique flavors of Thailand to Dilworth's restaurant district on East Boulevard (and to two other Charlotte-area locations). Although resembling a small ethnic market on the outside, the inviting interior is more chic: tables spread with paisley covers, exposed wooden beams offset by golden chandeliers, and Asian artwork on light hardwood walls. A gracious staff greets customers, while a mix of neighborhood hipsters and retail-bound diners settle into the relaxed vibrancy that is characteristic of Thai Taste. Lunch, with its daily changing menu, can be simple and quick, while dinner draws a more adventurous crowd that often lingers to savor every last bite. Traditional dishes of noodles, soups and stir-fries arrive surprisingly light on oil but packed with flavor. The traditional pad thai, for example, is a house specialty. Ditto the sar tah chicken skewers in peanut sauce and the crispy spring rolls. Don't miss the soup course and its many unique blends. Serving lunch Mon–Fri, dinner nightly. Hours vary by location.Voted Best Thai Restaurant in the 2008 Charlotte magazine readers poll and Best Asian (other than Chinese, Japanese or Indian) in the 2008 Creative Loafing readers poll.
