An instant hit since it was founded by local restaurateurs Frank Scibelli (Mama Ricotta's) and Dennis Thompson (Blue Marlin) in 2004, the Walworth neighborhood's Cantina 1511 added another location on the Southside thanks to the popularity of its authentic Mexican menu and lively bar with more than 30 tequila varieties. Guacamole is made fresh at your table, and the list of specialties goes far beyond the category's usual fare. Suggestions include the ceviche and the grilled marinated chicken topped with jalapeño bacon, queso fresco, sliced avocado and cucumber pico de gallo. For brunch (11 am–2 pm), try the French toast flavored with Mexican cinnamon. Reservations suggested. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Sun brunch.
