Saigon Café looks like your average American or Parisian café, with diners idly conversing at patio tables topped by green umbrellas, until you step inside and are greeted with a salutation in Vietnamese – a hint of what's to come. The diverse Vietnamese and Thai menu features shrimp tempura and includes other winning starters such as fried bananas or sweet-and-sour soup. Entrées come in large portions, with standouts that include the omelet-like Vietnamese pancake, and caramel catfish. Also popular are stir-fries, which consist of your choice of sauce, vegetables and meat (seafood, beef or chicken). Ginger tea is the perfect accompaniment to your meal, and desserts include five-scoop fruit sorbets, with peach and mango the favorite flavors. Saigon Café can get particularly busy on weekends, so it's best to call ahead for a table. Beer and wine available. Serving lunch and dinner daily.
