Rubin's Kosher Restaurant Delicatessen is one of Boston's only kosher delis. It closes early on Fridays for the Sabbath and reopens on Sundays, and the retro-y restaurant serves the kind of Jewish comfort food you'd expect to get at a place like this: tongue sandwiches, pastrami and corned beef, pickled herring, whitefish salad, hot brisket, and much, much more. Rubin's has a loyal clientele and is typically filled with families and retirees who come for the great food and the comfortable atmosphere. Located near Coolidge Corner in Brookline, it's the place to go if you're craving matzo ball soup, a thick pastrami sandwich, or comfort dishes like chicken-in-the-pot. Never mind the constant comparisons to delis in New York, which even people who know better can't help from making. Look, if you want some Brooklyn brisket, go to Brooklyn. But if you're looking for kosher comfort food in Brookline, Rubin's more than fits the bill. Kid's menu available. Beer and wine available. Serving during breakfast, lunch and dinner hours Sun–Thu, breakfast and lunch hours Fri. Closed for dinner Fri and all day Sat.
Voted Best Deli in the 2008 Boston magazine readers poll.
