Tucked in the historic Bottega Favorita building near the Five Points South neighborhood, Bottega and its adjacent casual café are the inventions of Birmingham restaurant guru Frank Stitt. Opened in 1988, Bottega is a romantic, European-style retreat that attracts a well-dressed crowd seeking an elegant meal before heading to the theater or another special destination. While several of Bottega's dishes come from across the Mediterranean, the menu's focus is Italian provincial with an ever-changing selection of appetizers, pastas, seafood, steak, veal and desserts. Don't miss the signature Parmesan soufflé or the upside-down honey cheesecake if available. James Beard Foundation Outstanding Chef Award nominee, 2008.
