After hours, Cuban hot spot Babalu Grill turns into a sultry Latin dance club. But at dinnertime, it's all about the food. Sure, patrons still enjoy a range of rum-spiked cocktails such as the Tropicolada – a pineapple-flavored house punch – or a minty mojito. But it's the sweet and spicy flavors of the cuisine that grab the most attention. Start with a seafood-packed ceviche, or plantain cups filled with spiced shrimp, beef and chicken. For entrées, try classic Cuban flavor combinations such as chicken with saffron rice and sweet peas, or pork chops with sweet potato mash and a chipotle sauce. The paella boasts a variety of seafood, including calamari and mussels, combined with chorizo sausage. A plate of Cuban-style black beans can be ordered on the side with any of the above dishes. Tropical desserts include coconut crème brûlée, a guava fruit pastry, and flan. Serving dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
