Saba Blue Water Cafe is Austin's own tropical getaway for those looking for a taste of the Caribbean, with a décor that's as exotic as the menu. This romantic, intimate café in the Warehouse District features an enormous, blue glass wall complementing the eclectic artwork and wood-trimmed interior. The sharable plates (slightly bigger than normal apps but smaller than entrées) are a must, as Saba Blue Water Cafe is considered to have some of the best appetizers in Austin. Offerings can include Creole-style calamari with remoulade sauce, crunchy vegetable spring rolls served with a hot-sour plum sauce, and pork and shrimp pot stickers with cilantro. Regional specialty entrées include mahi mahi in a lemongrass crème sauce piled atop rice, with pineapple and cilantro, and accompanied by grilled bananas in an Asian barbecue sauce. Or sample the spicy grilled jerk chicken with coconut sticky rice and black beans. The Sunday Island Brunch specialty is the Neptune Benedict: perfectly poached eggs with sweet lump crab meat and a lemongrass hollandaise sauce. For dessert, don't miss the Key lime brûlée. Full bar features specialty drinks such as the blue water martini or the apple ginger martini and boasts an extensive wine and beer selection. Reservations suggested on Fri and Sat nights. Serving dinner nightly. Sun brunch 11 am–3 pm.
