Despite only being open since 2000, Sixth Street's Mother Egan's Irish Pub typifies the dark, inviting, well-traveled feel of a classic neighborhood Irish pub. The Guinness flows freely from the many taps, of course, and the TV sets feature sports 24-7. But Mother Egan's is worth visiting for the food alone. Traditional Irish favorites are well-prepared here, including corned beef and cabbage, shepherd's pie, and fish and chips – with the option for shrimp and chips as an alternative. Speaking of chips, it's worth the extra dollar to get them with curry sauce. Usual bar food starters include hot peppers, fried mushrooms, onion rings and potato skins. The Big Bad Burger never fails to satisfy. And for dessert, try a fried Milky Way or Snickers bar, tucked in a pastry shell and topped with vanilla ice cream. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Late-night Fri–Sat.
