Even though the original Brick Oven Restaurant in the Red River District has expanded to include several locations - including a separately owned franchise on West 35th St. - each establishment has retained a neighborhood feel with house specialties exclusive to each location. Brick Oven is famous for its wood-fired pizzas that are big on flavor, yet not as enormous as standard takeout or delivery. Local favorites include the portobello mushroom and prosciutto pizza, or the European-style pizza topped with whole milk mozzarella, crushed tomatoes, Romano and virgin olive oil.
