Authentic Moroccan cuisine and a dimly lit, heavily draped and sultry dining room have attracted crowds to Imperial Fez since 1991. Chef/co-owner Rafih Benjelloun has all the while infused the dining experience here with her great love for her own family's traditions. Patrons sit with bare feet or slippers on low chairs and pillows, and eat with their hands. As they finish their meals, guests accept rose-water hand baths while belly dancers perform. Choose a combination from the five-course, prix fixe menu or order à la carte (available each night except Fri–Sat). The first course on the prix fixe menu may be lentil bean soup or the soup of the day. Next, use your fingers to eat a variety of Moroccan salads before the Cornish hen appetizer is delivered. Entrée choices include your choice of lamb, beef, poultry, game, seafood or vegetarian options, with dishes running the gamut from hare with paprika sauce or Cornish hen to shish kebabs and vegetable couscous. You may also choose between the hot or mild sauces that are served with each entrée. A hot mint tea called atay b'naa-naa and a pastry known as briouat are excellent dessert picks. Kids' menu. Full bar. Belly dancing after 8 pm nightly. Serving dinner Tue–Sun. Closed Mon.
